Liberty Tire Services dedicates renovated facility
Liberty Tire Services dedicated its newly renovated facility in Grove City,
Ohio, on December 5. Officials of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources
(ODNR) and others toured the facility after the dedication ceremony.
In 2005, Liberty Tire received a $350,000 Recycling Market
Development Grant from ODNR for equipment to shred scrap tires and convert
them into rubber crumb for use in athletic fields and civil engineering projects.
The company matched the grant with an equal amount of money. Liberty officials
said the grant allowed them to hire 13 new employees to shred about 1.2 million
tires annually at the Grove City plant.
However, a devastating fire at the facility last year delayed
full operation of the facility. ODNR allowed the company a one-year extension
on the grant, giving it the opportunity to meet the benchmarks originally
specified. |
