New Jersey town doubles recycling rates

RecycleBank™, a rewards program that motivates people to recycle, announced that Cherry Hill, New Jersey. has become the 27th municipality in the United States to deploy the RecycleBank program. After just one week of collection, the town has already seen homes in the pilot program more than double the amount of waste being recycled.

RecycleBank’s program presented Cherry Hill the opportunity to increase recycling rates by offering its citizens rewards for recycling. After just one week of participation, there has been a 134 percent increase in recycling rates, with the amount of recyclables more than doubling from about 12 pounds per household to nearly 26 pounds.

Cherry Hill residents can redeem their RecycleBank Points with national RecycleBank Reward Partners like Coca-Cola, IKEA, Starbucks, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Whole Foods, as well as with local Cherry Hill retailers.
