River
clean up project completed
The United States Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), the state of Ohio and the Ottawa River Group have
completed a major clean up project on the Ottawa River. The project
involved dredging contaminated sediment from 5.5 miles of the
Ottawa River in Toledo, Ohio.
EPA provided $23.5 million for the project
through the Great Lakes Legacy Act. The Ottawa River Group also
provided $23.5 million and the City of Toledo provided space
in its municipal landfill as its cost share.
