RAM kicks off holiday recycling

The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) kicked off the Recycle Your Holidays™ holiday light recycling program.

Recycle Your Holidays (RYH) is a statewide effort to collect and recycle holiday lights that are old, unwanted or no longer work. This program employs individuals with disabilities at local vocational centers throughout Minnesota who collect and sort the lights for recycling.

RAM encourages people who need new lights to purchase LED light strands which are up to 90 percent more efficient than incandescent bulbs. The RYH program is free for businesses to participate as a collection site.

RAM provides free bins and promotes the program in partnership with WCCO on their website as well as partner websites. Vocational center staff and clients pick up the lights and bring them to their facility to be safely recycled.
