Twenty-six wind turbines purchased for Texas site

Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES-Americas) purchased 26, 2.3-megawatt (MW) wind turbine generators from Siemens Power Generation to be installed at RES' Whirlwind Energy Center, which will be constructed in 2007 in Floyd County, Texas.

The 26 Siemens wind turbine generators will produce 59.8 MW of electricity, which will be sold to Austin Energy under a recently executed long-term arrangement (Power Purchase Agreement) that will commence upon completion of construction and commissioning. RES-Americas intends to own a significant portion of the project and be the project operator.

"By securing these turbines RES is moving full speed ahead with the Whirlwind Energy Center, which is expected to start construction in March of 2007," said Craig Mataczynski, president of RES Americas, "and will be completed in late 2007."
