National Association of PET Container Resources
has Grants Available
Charlotte, NC - The National Association for PET Container
Resources (NAPCOR), the trade association for the PET plastic industry
in the United States and Canada, has issued requests for proposals for
projects that will increase the collection and recycling of polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles of all shapes, sizes and colors from
venues where the recyclable containers are generated.
Eligible grant recipients are state and local governments and non-profit
organizations, including regional waste authorities and state recycling
organ-izations. Private businesses are eligible as partners in projects
with local gov-ernments and non-profit organizations.
For maximum recovery at minimum cost, NAPCOR seeks to fund creative projects
that impact the quantity of PET bottles collected for recycling. Projects
demonstrating the potential to produce a quantifiable increase in PET
bottle collection will have priority for funding.
The proposals, which must be postmarked by March 14, 2003, will be reviewed
and approved by NAPCOR's eastern, central and western region directors,
located in Asheville, North Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri and Seattle,
Washington respectively. Applicants are encouraged to contact the director
in their region (information above) with specific inquiries or to request
a complete copy of the requests for proposals, which are also available
online at www.napcor.com/rfp.
