Waste Management Completes Life-Use Lease of Landfill in Monroe County, New York

Houston, TX - Waste Management, Inc. has completed an agreement with Monroe County of New York for a life-use lease of the Mill Seat Landfill in Riga, New York. Waste Management will assume the operation, marketing and management of the facility through closure of the site.

"With more than 300 landfills, Waste Management has the expertise in landfill engineering and construction to fulfill this important role for the county."

Under the agreement, Waste Management will construct the remaining phases of the landfill as well as a methane gas collection system.

"By entering into this lease, Waste Management will have the opportunity to operate this landfill and will offer a comprehensive network to handle the solid waste needs of this region," said Rich Felago, Eastern Area Senior Vice President.

The transaction is a long-term lease agreement that corresponds with Waste Management's strategy of pursing asset opportunities that immediately complement the company's existing operations. Opened in 1993, Mill Seat Landfill serves the greater Rochester area.
