Case elected AF&PA chairman
Washington, DC— Michael
E. Case, president and CEO of Gulf States Paper Corporation, has
been elected chairman of the board for the American Forest &
Paper Association (AF&PA).
Case takes over at an important
juncture in AF&PA’s history as the organization’s
own president & CEO, W. Henson Moore, will be retiring this
summer after 11 years at the helm of the association. Case, in
addition to participating in the search for the next AF&PA
CEO, is undertaking a strategic review of AF&PA to ensure
the association continues to be able to serve members effectively
in the rapidly changing paper and forest products industry.
Case joined Gulf States in 1981,
serving in a variety of sales and marketing positions in the packaging
and paperboard areas before being named vice president for sales
in the Pulp & Paperboard Division in 1993. He has also served
as vice president of Strategic Planning, and executive vice president
& chief operating officer. In 1999 he served as president
& COO before being promoted to president & CEO on November
1, 2000. |
