MHF Logistical Solutions previews custom packaging
New industrial packaging materials, designed specifically for the steel industry and other industrial users, will give steelmakers more choices for disposing of waste and byproducts, including new options for recycling, a packaging expert told a recent Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) conference.
Kenneth Grumski, director of MHF Logistical Solutions' (MHF-LS) packaging affiliate, previewed the new line of packaging that he said will offer steelmakers more cost-effective options for transporting waste and byproducts, enabling them to send more materials to recycling facilities rather than landfills.
The packaging can lower costs and create new flexibility in devising disposal strategies by more readily enabling steel companies to use truck and rail shipping strategies.
Grumski also told the SMA conference that the new packaging from MHF-LS may be used for source melt materials, even if there is radiological contamination. The new packaging products have been demonstrated to steel companies and will be available next month.
