Remediation team set for Florida site
The United States Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) and Stauffer Management Company (SMC) officials
announced the selection of the remediation team for the Stauffer
Chemical Site in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
O’Brien & Gere has been selected as Stauffer’s construction
manager for the remediation project.
Envirocon, based in Missoula, Montana, has been selected to perform
the construction of the project, with Black & Veatch Special
Projects Corp. to assist with construction oversight.
Cleanup is estimated to take eighteen months, which includes:
the consolidation and capping of contaminated soils in the north
and south parcels of the site; installation of a cut off wall
to reduce movement of groundwater contamination at the site;
and restoration of the eastern shore of Meyers Cove. The project
schedule is currently being refined.
