AERT and Cherokee Nation break ground for recycling facility
Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc.
(AERT) announced the start up on construction for its new recycling plant
in Watts, Oklahoma.
The facility, funded and developed with the support of the Cherokee Nation
and the State of Oklahoma, will reclaim post-industrial plastic materials
for use in the Company’s building products.
The benefits of the plant include providing AERT with low-cost raw materials,
creating over 200 jobs in an area of high unemployment and reducing Oklahoma’s
carbon footprint by reusing landfill waste.
The plant will be located on property where a large hog feed lot and
finishing facility once operated. AERT plans to retrofit the wastewater
and manure pits to pre-treat the effluent from the recycling process
before it is discharged.
