Miami-Dade County received a “Champion for
Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Alternative Fuels Award” from the
Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition.
The award was given for several County initiatives
related to the use of alternative fuels and the vehicles that
use them, including biodiesel and a variety of hybrid vehicles.
The award was presented to Miami-Dade County
- Use of a five percent biodiesel blend across
the county fleet since April 2009;
- 457 hybrid electric vehicles in the county fleet;
- 38 diesel-electric hybrid buses in use; and
- 6 hybrid hydraulic waste collection vehicles in use.
