Green Glove Charity benefits Keep America Beautiful
During the 61st annual Shell Houston Open, PGA golfer Charley Hoffman will wear a green golf glove to represent both his new sponsor, Waste Management, and the formation of his Green Glove Charity.
The Charley Hoffman/Waste Management Green Glove Charity will benefit Keep Houston Beautiful, which will receive donations raised through the end of May.
Contributions received after that time will be used to further enhance Keep America Beautiful projects nationwide. The timing coincides with the Great American Cleanup, an annual event in which millions of volunteers clean up communities across the country.
Last year, Waste Management recycled more than 5.5 million tons of waste material, saving enough energy to power 833,000 homes.
Waste Management also produced 470 megawatts of green renewable energy, enough to power about 400,000 homes or replace about seven million barrels of oil per year.
