AISI names achievement award recipients
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced the recipients of its Market Development Achievement Award.
The award recognizes the service of individuals within the North American steel industry who have made significant contributions in advancing the competitive use of steel in the marketplace. Two individuals were recognized: Robert Johns of Nucor Corporation (retired) and Linn Osterman, P.E. of The Timken Company (retired).
Before his retirement in December 2006, Bob Johns was director of marketing, sheet mill group for Nucor Corporation. He joined Nucor as sales manager in 1988. He was chairman of AISI’s Construction Market Committee from 2003-2006, and also served as a member of AISI’s Market Development Committee and Strategic Communications Council.
Before his retirement in December 2006, Linn Osterman was vice president of sales and marketing-alloy steel at The Timken Company, serving in that position since 2000.
He joined the company in 1967 as an industrial sales engineering trainee, gaining management experience in the sales and engineering fields of the automotive and bearings divisions.
