NAPCOR Director Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Charlotte, NC - The National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) honored Sandi Childs, eastern regional director, as the Recycler of the Year and she was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Carolina Recyclers Association's (CRA) 2002 conference in Asheville, North Carolina.

Ms. Childs, a founding member and the first president of the CRA, works with communities and organizations to expand collection and recovery of PET plastic containers by providing technical, marketing and educational assistance.

Prior to joining NAPCOR in June 1995, Ms. Childs was the recycling manager for Southeastern Container, Inc., a PET soft drink bottle manufacturer and NAPCOR member. She began her recycling career in 1986 as a solid waste programs planner for the Land-of-Sky Regional Council in Asheville, North Carolina, where she managed solid waste weight and composition studies at five local landfills and helped the counties start their first recycling programs.

Ms. Childs has a B.S. in Human Ecology from Ramapo College of New Jersey and an M.S. in Public Health from the University of North Carolina.
