August 2004SWANA Chooses Professional Achievement Award WinnersSilver Spring, MD— The Executive Committee of SWANA’s International Board recently named several individuals to receive the association’s Professional Achievement Awards. SWANA’s awards program was established over a decade ago to recognize individual achievement and commitment to the Association and its goals as well as to the advancement of economically and environmentally sound management of solid waste. Descriptions of each award can be found in the ‘Innovate’ section of SWANA’s website at www.SWANA.org. SWANA Executive Director and CEO John Skinner, Ph.D., commented on this year’s honorees: “This year’s award winners are individuals who have displayed, throughout their careers, extraordinary dedication to their field and our Association. Each has gone above and beyond the call of duty in their daily work. I am honored to welcome this group into the distinguished ranks of past professional achievement award recipients.” The winners will be honored during a luncheon at WASTECON 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 23.
