Indiana Subaru plant marks three years of zero landfill status
Subaru is celebrating its three-year anniversary of zero landfill status at its manufacturing plant, Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA).
The Subaru plant in Indiana sends nothing to a landfill. The Subaru plant was the first United States auto plant to achieve zero landfill status, with all its waste being either reused, recycled or converted to electricity for the city of Indianapolis.
The Subaru plant is also a designated backyard wildlife habitat. Deer, coyotes, beavers, blue herons, geese, rabbits, squirrels, meadowlarks, ducks and other animals live there in peaceful coexistence with the Subaru plant.
