DEP settles with Pasco County
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection
(DEP) reached an agreement with Pasco County to resolve continuous
violations at 10 county owned wastewater treatment facilities. The
legal order imposes close to $1.8 million in penalties and costs
on Pasco County.
“Through this legal agreement, DEP is requiring
the county to resolve its environmental violations in a timely manner,”
said acting Southwest District Director Mike Farley.
As a part of the order, Pasco County must implement
and complete capital improvements and modifications to facilities
the Department deems essential to address sanitary sewer overflows
and unauthorized discharges. This includes construction improvements
and rehabilitation of the county’s collection systems and
facilities. |
