Smurfit-Stone reports second quarter results

Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation reported a second quarter 2008 adjusted net loss of $31 million, or $0.12 per diluted share. Results compare to adjusted net income of $15 million, or $0.06 per share, in the second quarter 2007 and an adjusted net loss of $24 million, or $0.09 per share, in the first quarter 2008.

Sales of $1.8 billion for the second quarter 2008 were comparable to both the prior year quarter and first quarter 2008.
