EPA cites Barron County Solid Waste
Chicago, IL— U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency Region 5 has cited the Barron County Solid Waste
Management Board for alleged clean-air violations at the Barron
County Facility in Wisconsin.
EPA alleges that two Barron County
waste and refuse-fired municipal incinerators emitted excessive
hydrochloric acid and particulates (smoke, dust, ash) during stack
tests done on May 3-4.
These are preliminary findings
of violations. To resolve them, EPA may issue a compliance order,
assess an administrative penalty or bring suit against the company.
Barron County has 30 days from receipt of the notices to meet
with EPA to discuss resolving the allegations. |
