West Virginia business acquires Elkins
Iron & Metal
Elkins Iron & Metal Company in Elkins, West
Virginia has been acquired by a West Virginia business man, Andrew
Gongola.
The Elkins facility will be renamed Elkins Metal
Recycling and will join Gongola’s current group of metal recycling
businesses in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The Elkins facility was founded by Gongola’s
grandfather in 1957 and run by Gongola’s father since 1980.
Andrew Gongola will be a third generation owner. “I am proud
to now be the third generation to operate the business and continue
the family’s history”, says Gongola.
The Elkins facility joins Gongola’s Three
Rivers Iron & Metal, a full service scrap yard in Fairmont,
West Virginia and Clean Metal, a specialized incinerator scrap operation
near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Elkins Metal Recycling has leased rail cars and
will utilize the ability to ship by rail from Elkins as a method
to transport nearly 50% of materials. Truck shipments will be utilized
for higher value metals. Gongola’s group of businesses will
be headquartered at the Elkins location. |
