Curbside Value Partnership launches free electronic resources

Recycling coordinators will have a new tool in their education arsenal that’s available at no cost. The Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) is offering the “Recycling Communicators Toolbox,” an online and CD-ROM-based educational toolkit for recycling professionals.

Featuring tried and true strategies for maximizing education dollars, this kit arms recyclers with the tools they need to launch effective education campaigns. CVP has worked with more than 40 communities and has found that increased education leads to increased participation in curbside recycling. CVP’s research indicates that people need to know about their local recycling pro- gram and that ongoing communication is critical.

The kits are available at no cost to interested communities, thanks to CVP sponsors Alcoa, Anheuser-Busch Recycling, ARCO, Ball Corporation, Novelis and REXAM. Communities can utilize the user-friendly CD-ROM to navigate across various subjects, including best practices and research findings; the need for education; how to use public relations; the importance of branding; using social marketing techniques; leveraging the Web; reaching diverse audiences; and measuring success. Worksheets are also included to encourage users to get “hands-on” with the site’s contents. Additionally, dozens of resources and tools are provided to jump-start activities.
