Dana Container cited for violations
United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Region 5 has reached an agreement with Dana Container Inc. located
in Detroit, Michigan, for alleged violations of federal hazardous
waste regulations. A $151,000 penalty has been assessed and will
be paid.
Dana, with container and truck tank cleaning facilities
was cited for violating the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery
Act requirements for managing hazardous waste.
At their facility located at 11430 Russell St.,
Dana failed to: keep containers closed, provide and document annual
hazardous waste training, institute portions of a contingency plan,
install a device to summon emergency assistance from local authorities
and properly label hazardous waste containers.
At their 1551 Caniff St. facility, the company
failed to provide and document annual hazardous waste training,
provide safety equipment and adequate aisle space for its use, maintain
a contingency plan and properly label hazardous waste containers.
Dana has made all changes and is now in compliance. |
