Pull-A-Part earns Keep Georgia Beautiful
Award
Pull-A-Part, an Atlanta based automotive used parts
retailer, earned first place honors in the Waste Reduction and Recycling
category at the 2006 Keep Georgia Beautiful awards banquet held
at the Georgia Aquarium in October.
“It is especially important for Georgia
businesses to do what we can to preserve our environment for future
generations,” said Steve Levetan, Pull-A-Part vice president.
“It is an honor to be recognized for those efforts.”
The Waste Reduction and Recycling category recognizes
the efforts of businesses and other organizations to minimize the
impact of waste and promote responsible waste handling in the community.
Pull-A-Part was formally acknowledged for its efforts to keep abandoned
vehicles off neighborhood streets, create new systems to ensure
safe drainage and for recycling all fluids and hazardous materials
remaining in the vehicles it processes.
Based on recycling an average of 2,000 tons of
automobiles each month at the two Georgia locations, Pull-A-Part
annually prevents 2.9 million pounds of waste from entering Georgia
landfills. Additionally, each location recycles approximately 50,000
gallons of oil, gasoline, brake fluid, transmission fluid and antifreeze
each year. |
